Auros Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
Auros is a free severe-weather app made by Meridian. This policy explains what data the app uses and what it does not. The short version: Auros has no ads, does not sell or share your personal data, and does not track you across other apps or sites.
What Auros uses
Location. To show weather for a place, Auros needs that place's coordinates. You provide locations by searching for them, or, if you choose, by allowing the app to use your device location. Those coordinates are sent to public weather services (the National Weather Service, the Storm Prediction Center, the National Hurricane Center, Open-Meteo, and NOAA radar sources) for the sole purpose of returning the forecast, alerts, and radar for that spot. Auros does not use your location for advertising and does not share it with advertisers.
Account information (optional). You can use Auros completely without an account. If you choose to sign in, Auros uses Google Firebase Authentication to manage your sign-in with your email address or your Google account. This is what lets your saved locations and settings sync across your devices.
Saved settings and locations. Your saved places and preferences are stored on your device. If you sign in, they are also saved to your account through Google Firebase so they follow you to your other devices.
What Auros does not do
- No ads, and no advertising identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of your personal data.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Services Auros relies on
Auros uses Google Firebase for optional accounts and cloud sync. Your weather requests go to public government and weather data sources to fetch forecasts, alerts, and radar. Google's handling of Firebase data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Storage and security
Data sent between Auros and these services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Settings you do not sync stay on your device. Account data is stored in Google Firebase.
Your choices
- Use Auros without an account, and everything stays on your device.
- Delete your account and its synced data at any time, which removes it from the cloud.
- Clear the app's data on your device to remove locally saved locations and settings.
Children
Auros is a general-audience weather app. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
A note on safety
Auros is for situational awareness. It does not replace official warnings, a NOAA weather radio, or the Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone. Always keep more than one way to receive a warning.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
